The SAM-LG Community

Local governments around the world face growing pressures to improve performance, demonstrate measurable results, align around a clear strategy and deliver more value to their constituents. As a result of this pressure, there is an increasing amount of effort to understand the tools, techniques, frameworks and models to best accomplish this.

And there is a growing appetite among local government leaders and staff to learn more about how to succeed on this journey.

The result of the interest and activity in this area has been an overwhelming volume of ideas and a confusing array of conflicting frameworks, vocabularies and approaches. Rather than simply adding yet another model to this "marketplace of ideas" for strategic management, this community and the Strategy-Aligned Management (SAM) approach both seek to integrate many of the "best principles" from the most relevant and effective approaches into a highly-practical approach.

This community will bring together a wide variety of people and organizations with a desire to collaborate and learn about this dynamic area of government management. Key to the support and development of the material will be a core group of consultants and practitioners who will provide a variety of types of educational content in the form of Web Seminars, articles, white papers, forums and Weblogs. Adding to the richness of the community will be a variety of members who will raise questions and share about their experiences with any of the tools and techniques that are part of SAM.
